Brian Hinman

Brian L. Hinman joined Oak as a Venture Partner in 2006. Brian is the co-founder, and formerly the President and CEO, of 2Wire, a provider of broadband service platforms for the DSL market. Brian is also the co-founder, and formerly the CEO, of Polycom, Inc., the world's leading teleconferencing company. He was also the co-founder of PictureTel Corporation at the age of 22, pioneering the video compression technology that has endured into the standards of today. Brian is an engineer by training, a specialist in digital signal processing, and holds twelve U.S. patents. He has received several awards for entrepreneurship, including being named an Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young in 2005. Brian holds a B.S.E.E. summa cum laude from the University of Maryland, and an S.M.E.E. from M.I.T.
Jim Long

Jim Long joined Gabriel as a Venture Partner in early 2007, and drives new investments as well as advises existing Gabriel portfolio companies. Jim has over 20 years experience as a founder, CEO, and business leader building successful businesses in the technology industry, as well as developing new technologies and patents for the Internet and PC environments. He has been a founder, CEO, and executive at leading technology companies, and has served as an advisor to many startups and venture capital firms. Jim has a wide depth and breadth of experience in the technology industry, and focuses on investments in emerging cleantech, software, and consumer Internet companies. He received his MBA from Harvard University (with distinction) and a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley.
Giacomo Marini

Giacomo led Noventi investments in Easy Market (acquired by TUI), M7 (acquired by BEA), Sygate (acquired by Symantec) and Dynamicsoft/Teltier (acquired by Cisco). Prior to Noventi, Giacomo was a private venture investor. He also served as interim Chief Executive Officer of FutureTel, a digital video products company, and as President and Chief Executive Officer of Common Ground Software (formerly No Hands Software), an electronic publishing software company. Previously, Giacomo co-founded Logitech (Nasdaq: LOGI). He was with the company for over a decade as a Director and member of the management team launching Logitech and driving it to become a world leader in computer peripherals.
Mostafa Ronaghi
Vice President & Chief Technology Officer, Illumina
Mostafa Ronaghi, Ph.D., is the Senior Vice President & Chief Technology Officer of Illumina, and is responsible for leading internal research programs and evaluating new technologies for the Company. He is an experienced entrepreneur and was involved in the start-up of four life sciences companies, including Avantome, NextBio, ParAllele Bioscience, and Pyrosequencing AB. Mostafa was a principal investigator at Stanford University from 2002–2008 and focused on the development of novel tools for molecular diagnostic applications. He earned his Ph.D. from the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden, holds more than 20 pending and issued patents and has written more than 50 peer-reviewed publications in journals and books.
